SOUNDS FROM THE PRIMORDIAL SOUP.

Johnny Pears is a South Shields (UK) born musician, artist and writer who channels a spontaneous style of song composition, championing it as his creative outlet - or put simply, the only way he’s ever known: “How to make anything half decent”.

Not methodical or really one to force things, his material comes unannounced, often scribbling lyrics down or mumbling midnight voice memo melodies or guitar lines into his phone - much to the annoyance of his partner.

Like most, his influences are vast and you’ll hear various layers and subconscious nods to contemporaries and those gone before.

He has a sound, but that sound can and does vary. Johnny uses software, physical instruments and a blend of his punchy and harmonious vocals to set off on a sonic DIY journey of discovery, using the ideas spawned from this curious pool of spontaneity.

Night Crawlers

You dim the lights.

I make a tortured pun.

And in the night.

Bang goes my loaded gun.

We get things wrong.

I’m welcomed home.

Back to your throne

Trying to be.

Something you’re clearly not.

You shake the tree.

And tie yourself in knots.

This foreign feign.

Will be in vain. I share your pain.

Oh starry night.

What is in store for me?

You shine so bright. Blanket of empathy.

I’m on my knees.

In sacred stance.

Come rescue me

You dim the lights.

I make a tortured pun.

And in the night.

Bang goes my loaded gun.

We get things wrong.

I’m welcomed home.

Back to your throne.

Pin Cushion

Feel that something?

It's not nothing

Stomach churning

Inside burning

A cessation

Of human conscious

Come cremation

Endless nothing?

I was hoping

For some romance

Empty graveyard

Gentle slow dance

Universe

What a curse

And it's calling into question

Anodyne

Is a word

That you never care to mention

The why is in the rub

Stick a pin in me

Some place somewhere

Something's listening

Soil keeps turning

Cosmic whispering

I was hoping

For some romance

Empty graveyard

You know the rest

Universe

What a curse

And it's calling into question

Anodyne

Is a word

That you never care to mention

The why is in the rub

Stick a pin in me

The darkest days may come

Stick a pin in me

I wanna know

Where do we go?

I wanna know

Where do we go?

I wanna know
